License Site Corruption Warning

Preactor uses a software licensing system that will be installed when you install Preactor. The files that make up the licensing system will be installed in the folder you choose during installation of the license site. They should be installed on:

  • Windows based operating system only (they will not work on Novell Netware).
  • A physical machine, not on a virtual machine.
  • A mapped drive that is not mapped using an IP address when installed in a network location.

Once installed and activated they must not be:

  • Deleted.
  • Copied or pasted.
  • Moved without using the ‘License Site Manager’ move facilities.
  • Backed up and Restored.
  • Or corrupted in any way.

If you need to move a license site, use the ‘Request Move Authorization’ and ‘Move’ options available in ‘License Site Manager’. Please read the ‘Moving a License Site’ topic in the ‘License Site Manager’ help for full details.

Your Preactor system will stop working if the files are changed in any way. In the event of the software licensing system becoming corrupted you will need to send a legally binding lost license declaration to Preactor International. This declaration must be typed on your organization’s headed paper and must be signed (NOT pp’ed) by the Managing Director, Chief Executive, or, for universities, the Vice Chancellor. When Preactor International has received the declaration, your license will be reset, ready for reinstallation. For customers not under current maintenance there is an administrative charge associated with this service.

Please ensure that you read the chapter 'Installing a License Site' topic in the 'Installation' chapter in either the online User Help or User Guide.pdf file provided with your Preactor software before installing a license site. This will advise you on how to select a suitable location for your licensing system files.
